Affectionate cat breeds

BlogAlinatur

Most domestic cats are friendly pets, but in some breeds this trait really stands out. In this article, we point out the most affectionate cat breeds.

Many affectionate and gentle breeds will no doubt be left off this list, but there are so many breeds that are adorable for their beauty and sweetness that it is simply impossible to include them all. Besides, you should always bear in mind each cat's individual personality. If you have more than one cat of the same breed, you will notice that one is always more affectionate than the other.

The Siamese cat

The Siamese is an extremely affectionate breed with the family it lives with, especially with children, with whom it shows infinite patience.

The Siamese cat is within reach of anyone who decides to adopt one. It is an extraordinary pet that guarantees good times. It is a breed with a lively, curious temperament, but with a huge capacity to show affection. It is a very intelligent breed, able to communicate with people.

The Ragdoll cat

The Ragdoll is incredibly docile and affectionate, to the point of going completely limp when picked up, which explains the name ragdoll by which this breed is known. It is a curious contrast that such a large cat should be so gentle and friendly with visitors.

The Maine Coon cat

The Maine Coon is a very popular breed in the United States, where it originates, and is among the most affectionate cats as it is extremely sociable and loving with the family, especially with children.

This giant cat breed has a couple of distinctive traits. The first is that they love water and bathing in it. The second is that they always choose one person in the family to whom they are more affectionate and attached than to the rest. They also get on well with other pets.

Exotic Shorthair

The Exotic Shorthair is perhaps the most affectionate breed of all towards its family. So much so that it does not cope well with being alone, and can even become ill if left on its own.

It is very gentle and is always wherever most of the family gathers, to enjoy their company and give them all its affection. It also gets on very well with other pets.

Birman cat

The Birman, or Sacred Cat of Burma, is a breed with a spectacular physical presence. Its distinguished bearing combines beautifully with the affection it shows the family it lives with, which is why it is one of the most affectionate cat breeds.

It is not as mischievous or lively as other breeds. Its gentle, calm temperament makes it an ideal cat for families who like a peaceful atmosphere at home.

The Bombay cat

The Bombay is a little-known breed, but one that stands out for the affection it shows the family that takes it in. One characteristic of this breed is that it hardly miaows or makes the other sounds typical of cats. It is usually a very calm breed.

The Havana cat

The Havana, for its part, is so affectionate that it can sometimes become a little tiresome in its insistence on being stroked. It is very intelligent, playful and sociable, both with the family and with strangers. It is very active and constantly asks for attention or for someone to play with it.

The Persian cat

The Persian is not only popular for its long, soft coat; it also stands out as a calm cat. It is perfect for calm families who want a cat with a relaxed lifestyle similar to their own.

As well as being incredibly calm, the Persian is very vain and loves being brushed and having time devoted to its coat. So if you enjoy grooming your cat, the Persian is perfect for you. With time and plenty of affection, we will have a particularly devoted and sweet cat by our side.

The Scottish Fold cat

The Scottish Fold looks truly adorable thanks to its ears, which fold down and forwards. It is sweet in appearance but also in character: the Scottish Fold is a friendly, likeable cat that adapts easily.

It tends to stay calm at home and is, in general, a very docile cat that happily accepts other pets, people and children's games. It enjoys receiving affection and being stroked.

A moggy!

Any cat can be affectionate and a great companion for life if we give it time, affection and play. If you're not sure which breed is right for you, we recommend visiting a shelter and seeing for yourself what the cats there are like. Any animal that is treated well can be affectionate and sweet!
